We have a client travelling to a country that doesn't require wormer, then on to one that does (within 5 days). Can we give the wormer in advance?

Yes – if they will be travelling on to the country that requires echinococcus treatment within 120 hours (5 days), or if they will be returning to the UK within 120 hours, i.e. a weekend trip to France. Then you can opt to give the wormer before they leave the UK.

To do this on OVForm:

  • Enter the first country of entry as usual, ie France
  • Then on the Health Details Step, for each dog travelling, you will see a checkbox in the Echinococcus section with text as follows:
Administer Echinococcus dewormer
Echinococcus dewormer is not required for France however if the trip is less than 5 days or the client will be entering a country that does require dewormer within 5 days you can administer the dewormer in advance
  • If you click the checkbox you will be presented with the usual Echinococcus section to fill in.
    • You will be required to complete the echinococcus section for ALL dogs travelling.

NB! Ensure that the date of treatment is 24-120 hours (1-5 days) before the date of entry to the destination country that requires the treatment (or the return date to the UK).
